Have you ever walked away from a movie theatre or watched a TV series finale wishing the story had gone in a completely different direction? TheAlternate Endings Competitionis your ultimate chance to script the exact ending you wanted to see. We invite screenwriters to step into existing universes and rewrite the final moments of a feature film or a television series finale, transforming what was into whatcouldhave been.
This high-stakes challenge will be judged by a panel of industry professionals and established writers. Our judges are looking for exceptional creativity, sharp execution, and a deep adherence to the established lore and characters created by the original concepts.

01Intellectual Property & Originality
Original Execution:All entries submitted to the Alternate Endings Competition must be the original written work of the submitting author(s).
Pre-existing Material:Entrants explicitly acknowledge and agree that the characters, worlds, settings, plots, and underlying intellectual property utilised in their submissions are created and owned by third-party creators, production companies, or studios.
Derivative Works:Submissions are strictly fan-submitted derivative works created solely for the purpose of evaluation within this competition. Entrance into this contest does not grant the writer any commercial rights, ownership, or licensing privileges to the original intellectual property.
No Infringement Intent:The competition is an educational and promotional showcase for screenwriters. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any major studio or original copyright holder of the films or television series utilised.
02Eligibility & Submission Guidelines
Global Eligibility:The Alternate Endings Competition is open to screenwriters worldwide. Entrants must be of legal age in their respective country of residence at the time of entry to participate and receive cash prizes.
Formatting:All scripts must be submitted in standard industry screenplay format via the Pitch Simple platform.
Deadlines:Submissions must be uploaded prior to the official closing date and time listed on the competition landing page. Late entries will not be considered.
Entry Fees:An active Pitch Simple membership plan is required to enter. Eligible members may use an included competition entry based on their membership tier. When no included entry is available, the competition entry fee is $59 USD per submission.
Prize Currency:The advertised top prize of $5,000 is valued in Australian Dollars (AUD) and will be distributed to the verified winner following the judges' final decision.
03Judging & Evaluation
Criteria:Submissions will be assessed by a panel of industry professionals and established writers based on creativity, writing quality, and strict adherence to the lore of the original creator's universe.
Finality:All judging decisions are final, binding, and at the sole discretion of Pitch Simple and its appointed panel.
